To date approximately 2 out of 3 middle class families are at high rick of sustaining or losing their economic security. Loss of jobs and income cuts have forced families to struggle with basic costs like housing, medical care, transportation, food, clothing and child care. Come and learn valuable resources that you can share with your families to help support their needs.

Monday, February 22nd 6:30 – 8:30
Creative and Crazy Concoctions ~ Sensory Recipes that Kids Can Really Get Their Hands Into
This hands on workshop is filled with fun recipes that are designed to create quality concoctions quickly, easily and inexpensively by using common household ingredients. Providing opportunities for children to create these concoctions will support building the confidence and self-esteem in young children by encouraging the desire to explore, create, learn and experiment.

Making “Sense” of their World
Science & Sensory Activities for Twos
Look, Listen, Touch, Taste and Smell. Two year olds love to explore their world. This hands on workshop gives participants to discuss and experience science and sensory activities designed especially for our twos who are just making “sense” of their world.

All Stressed Out
How to Prevent Provider Burnout & Maintain a Quality Child Care Program
When you decide to become a child care provider, you are entering into an important relationship with a child. You are also forming a partnership of care giving with the parents of that child. The mutual goal will be the best care possible for the child. Discussion centered around what quality child care is and how to maintain your quality child care program and also maintain your own wellness. A Yummy relaxing dinner will be served!!

The Curious and Creative Chef
Part 1 ~ Spring & Summer
Help children discover how “yummy” learning can be with easy to follow recipes. Recipes are coordinated with a favorite children’s books for Spring & Summer that also helps enhance valuable language skills. As children make their food creations they will also learn and practice valuable math skills including measure, counting, patterning, identifying shapes and discovering fractions.

Wednesday, April 7th 6:30 – 8:30
What to Do with a Squirt of Glue ~ Creative Art Experiences For Young Children
This workshop is designed to provide enriching and creative art experiences for young children. Art is and integral part of the whole educational process and is vital to a child’s well-being. By providing a variety of materials and activities children are able to be creative and show their individual talents.

Monday, May 3rd 6:30 – 8:30
Positively Guiding Young Children
What is guidance? What are the licensing guidelines for behavior guidance? Is time out really effective? Become more familiar with behavior challenges and ways to resolve them. Gain an understanding of how positive behavior can be enforced while building a child’s self-esteem.

Learning through Play
A Make and Take Workshop
Teachers set the stage for learning, and preschoolers eagerly accept the challenge. When preschoolers play, they take the initiative — choosing where they want to play, coming up with ideas, and trying them out. Discussion around what learning looks like in children’s play and what concepts and skills children can learn through play. Participants will have the opportunity to make some learning games to use with the children in their care.

Language & Pre-Reading Activities for Young Children
Important facts about literacy skills, reading as language and the ages and stages associated with literacy. Come and learn about awesome community resources that support caregivers and families in strengthening language and pre-reading skills. Hands on fun activities that kids will love with are provided.

Pre-Registration Information

§ Two child care training hours approved by the Nevada Registry for each workshop.
§ Workshops held in Sparks (Directions will be emailed to you)
§ Workshops are $15.00 per person per workshop.
§ Pre-Registration is REQUIRED for all workshops!

§ Workshop fees include all supplies and a certificate of completion.
§ Please PRE-REGISTER for each workshop by sending a check or money order one week prior to the workshop or email to reserve your space. Please note the date of the workshop you are registering for in the “memo” portion of your check or on an attached note. Please include your phone number.
§ Drop in availability is usually not a problem but you must please call or email prior to the workshop for availability.
§ Cash refunds can not be issued. If you have registered for a workshop and are unable to attend, please notify Cynthia Martinez prior to the class (no later than 2:00PM the day of the workshop) and you may transfer your workshop payment to another class within next six weeks.
